Permanent grasslands play an important role for agriculture and environment. They produce almost half of total French forage, are habitat for fauna and flora, and provide diverse ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration and water purification. However, permanent grasslands are threaten by agriculture intensification, which induce grassland disappearance and loss in biodiversity in remaining grasslands.

The aims of my research are to better understand 1) how agronomical management and environment affect grassland flora composition and 2) how this flora express through agronomic (yield, forage quality, animal health, economy, …), ecological (botanical diversity, conservation of rare and threaten species, …) and environmental (carbon sequestration) characteristics.

Results from this study will be combined in a new tool, which will be usable by farmers and agronomist- and naturalist-advisors. This tool will help them to think about agronomic management, and find solutions to protect biodiversity in business profitable farms.
