Plant secondary metabolism, also called specialized metabolism, refers to the synthesis and identification of a set of biomolecules of various structures and functions which are involved in the interaction of plants with their biotic and abiotic environment.

These five axes provide fundamental knowledge on the mechanisms and regulations involved in plant adaptation to its environment, levers of action for the development of crop protection strategies and innovative means for producing molecules with high added value.
